What is Antiblock?
Antiblock is an additive that reduces surface friction, prevents sticking and adhesion, and ensures fluidity. It prevents films from sticking together or blocking by creating space between them. It prevents layer-to-layer blocking in film applications and does not affect the film's transparency, haze, color, or gloss.
Polyolefin films tend to stick together due to electrostatic charges, temperature, and pressure during processing. To prevent layer adhesion, a particulate substance is added to the film in a highly diluted concentration. This creates a micro-rough surface, minimizing the contact area between film layers.
What is Antiblock 7831?
Antiblock 7831, produced by Baerlocher, is a silica complex that functions as an anti-blocking agent. It reduces surface tackiness in plasticized PVC (polyvinyl chloride) films. The recommended dosage is 0.3-0.5 phr. Thermally shaped products and plastic sheets require slip additives to prevent unwanted sticking.
Masterset slip/antiblock masterbatches reduce both sticking and friction coefficients, ensuring a clean and smooth deep-drawing process. Unwanted sticking of extruded films during rolling and opening is minimized, and deep-drawn products can be easily removed without surface friction or damage.
