Impact - Strength Enhancers

Strength enhancers are essential additives that increase flexibility and impact strength to meet the physical property requirements of rigid parts. Some unmodified polymers such as rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are brittle at ambient temperatures.

The purpose of PVC strength enhancers is to increase the flexibility and impact resistance of PVC products. PVC is a type of thermoplastic, meaning it can be melted and moulded into various shapes. However, PVC is a brittle material that is not very resistant to impact. This is where PVC impact modifiers come into play.

PVC strength enhancers are used in a wide range of products including pipe, hose, panels, flooring, ceilings, trim, packaging, film and sheets, siding, windows, doors, edgebanding and more. They are an important part of the manufacturing process of many PVC products.

Types of Strength Enhancers

1. Acrylic Strength Enhancers

2. MBS Strength Enhancers

3. CPE Strength Enhancers

M-41

  • M-41 MBS Impact modifier provides good impact resistance
  • It gives good transparency properties.
  • Heat resistance is very good.
  • Resistant against the solvent effect of oils.
  • M-41 It is odourless and does not cause odour in the product it is added to.
  • Good free flow properties.

Application Areas: PVC blow moulding, PVC film and sheet production

A-607

Acrylic strength enhancer is used especially in rigid PVC. It has a core-shell structure. It is obtained by crosslinking poly butyl acrylic as core and graft methyl methacrylate as shell. It also increases the gloss of the finished product surface and protects the product from external weather conditions.

Areas of application: Window, profile, facade, sheet, pipe, edge banding.

NBR Powder

The use of NBR powder in high quality/pure particle form improves the performance of PVC and ABS products. For this reason, NBR powder is used to increase the resistance and processability of polar thermoplastic resins and to improve their physical properties.

The use of NBR powder not only improves friction resistance, compression deformation and stiffness, but also reduces the migration of plasticisers and plasticisers and prevents changes in hardness and physical properties. In addition, if NBR powder is mixed with thermoplastic resins such as PVC, the powder provides TPE properties.

CPE 135A

This product, also known as chlorinated polyethylene, is a product with very good physical properties and compatibility with PVC. When used in the right and appropriate conditions, it provides increased durability by forming a three-dimensional network structure in rigid PVC products. It provides impact resistance at low and normal temperatures. It is widely preferred in areas such as PVC window profiles and doors, PVC pipes, PVC sewer pipes, PVC foam sheets.

Application Areas: PVC window profiles and doors, PVC pipes, PVC sewer pipes, PVC foam boards

Impact Strength Enhancers

Strength enhancers, which are used to increase flexibility and impact strength, often act as basic additives to improve the physical properties of rigid polymers, especially materials such as unmodified polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which exhibit brittleness at ambient temperatures.

MBS Based Strength Enhancer

It is used to make transparent PVC products more resistant to impact. It is an additive used for solid and semi-solid PVC products. When mixed with PVC, the following properties are clearly observed:

  • High impact resistance
  • Excellent heat stability
  • Extra flat surface
  • Application areas: Transparent Sheet, Film, Pipe, Food Packaging, Sheet, Granule, Edge Banding.

Acrylic Based strength Enhancer

Acrylic strength enhancer is especially used in rigid PVC. It has weather resistance and impact resistance. It protects your products against harsh external weather conditions such as intense sunlight, high temperature, humidity.

  • Weather resistance
  • Glossy appearance
  • Impact resistance
  • Increases melt flow in injection moulding
  • Easy to mix with PVC and other additives and increases production.
  • Application areas: Window, cable production, profile, facade, sheet, pipe and fitting parts, edge banding.

Nitryl Powder

NBR is a typical oil resistant rubber with excellent compatibility with polar polymers. The use of NBR powder in high quality/pure particle form improves the performance of PVC and ABS products.

In the plastic-rubber foam industry, NBR (nitrile-butadiene rubber) and PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) are the main blending materials. NBR/PVC blend provides fire resistance as well as cross-linking performance. It has both the ozone resistance of PVC and the oil resistance of NBR.

It has heat preservation, sound absorption, sealing, moisture-proof properties.

Application areas: Aerospace, automotive, white goods, nuclear industry, construction, health.

CPE 135A

Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is a product with superior physical properties with excellent compatibility with PVC. When used under the right conditions, it significantly increases durability by forming a three-dimensional network in rigid PVC products. It also provides impact resistance at low and normal temperatures. CPE is a non-toxic and odourless product. It is white and in powder form. It has flame retardant properties.

Application areas: PVC window profiles and doors, PVC pipes, PVC sewer pipes, PVC foam sheets.
